How to Make an IRISH DARTS Set

Irish Darts is a great game with very little set up. All it takes is a Frisbee, 2 bottles and a stand. I’m going to show you how to simply make a stand that can be used in almost any environment, inside or outside.

Here’s what you need:

  • One 10 foot x  3/4 inch PVC pipe
  • One 10 foot x 1.5 inch PVC pipe (1.25 inch might work just as easily)
  • Six T-joints for 3/4 inch PVC pipe
  • Two 1.5 inch joints
  • PVC pipe cutter or a hacksaw

These items can be found at any home improvement store.

Cut the 3/4 inch pipe into several smaller segments as such
Eight 6.5 inch segments
Four 1.25 inch segments
Two 30 inch segments
Attach the T-joints with the 1.25 inch segments as shown.

Add the 6.5 inch segments to the end end of the T-joints to stabilize the base. Attach the 30 inch segment to the vertical T-joint

Cut the 1.5 inch pipe into four 2.5 foot segments.
Cut the 1.5 inch pipe into four 2.5 foot segments.

 

Join two 2.5 foot segments together with the 1.5 inch joints. (this makes for easier storage and transport than two 5 foot poles)

Wrap glass bottles in duct tape to reduce breaking and make for easy clean up if a bottle happens to break. Alternatively use plastic baby bottles with a half inch of water in them

You can use PVC glue to join the parts together if you wish, but I’ve found it’s better to keep them unglued so that the base is adjustable to uneven or sloped ground.
