“Does God Exist?” DVD Cover Design

debatedvd-mockupI got a recent design assignment that was exciting and an honor.  I was asked to design the DVD cover for the recent Christopher Hitchens / William Lane Craig debate “Does God Exist?” I was really happy with the design concept that was chosen. The design requirement stated that the size of the event should [...]

Heroic Designs – May 2009

oldwomanI’ve found an online magazine, Smashing Magazine, that I feel I can draw a lot of inspiration from. I wanted to point out some great articles that I thought you might enjoy.

Lomography Success

In my previous post about Lomography I said I wanted to figure out how to do it in camera. As it turns out, I was doing everything I could in camera as it was. Typically Lomographers will cross process their film (they’d take slide film and treat it like print film). SO, that means I [...]

Hilarious Twitter Rant

Ralph Garman KROQI hate Twitter.  There I said it.  The reason I said it is because I think it’s a useless waste of time.  It takes our attention away from the significant things that we should really be paying attention to (This is something TV has been doing a great job of for years). Why read a [...]

Lomography Experiment

I read an interesting article about Lomography a couple of days ago.  My wife and I went to Disneyland on our birthdays for free.  I thought I would experiment with what I learned from the article. I got some interesting photos, but I didn’t really nail the Lomography thing.  I think I’m going to have [...]

My First Nephew

My first nephew, David, gave me the opportunity for another first; my first baby portrait shoot. I learned two very important things from the shoot. 1) It's tough to get a good picture of a 4 month old. 2) An aperture setting of 1.8 is very dangerous.

Tilt Shift + Time Lapse = Way Cool

This video is a series of real life photographs by Keith Loutit. They are taken with a special (expensive) lens called a "tilt-shift" lens. It gives the subject the appearance of being a minature. I like that he took his experiment to the next level by adding a story line.

Easter Portraits

I got a new Canon 40D for my birthday. I was able to start playing with it early so that I could do some portraits. These are the pictures of my girls in their Easter dresses. They came out great. and the girls did a good job of posing.

Does God Exist? – The Craig/Hitchens Debate

does-god-exist1I had the privilege of attending a debate between William Lane Craig and Christopher Hitchens at Biola University.  I was able to sit in the main auditorium, but just barely.  I was in the very last row at the back of the room.  It was great to experience the vibe in the room and measure [...]

Manly Portraits

In a photo class I took last year, I was told to take 100 pictures a day. This exercise did two things: 1) Made me a better photographer 2) Exhausted my children. My girls got SICK of having their pictures taken. As part of the class, at least once a week I had to go out and take pictures of people I didn't know. These are some of the portraits I took on those "stranger" assignments.
